Weight Loss Starts in the Mind
Many people find themselves wanting to lose weight for those all important special events like holidays, weddings or reunions and we want to look our best. However, when doing so people will look at all the things they do not like in order to gain the motivation to change.
When people focus on what they do not like or their flaws, they end up feeling bad about themselves. This may seem to be a powerful incentive to take action, but in order to create a positive change it needs to come from a positive place.
Building a positive self image and feeling toward yourself is essential for making any positive changes in your life. So the next time you think you should change because you are dislike what you see, ask yourself: “Why is this change important to me?” If you answer that you are wanting to love what you see in the mirror then you solution focused in your approach to this change.
If you answer is because you no longer want to be fat, or want to stop hating what you see in the mirror – there is good work to be done!
Our minds are goal seeking mechanisms are what it seeks to fulfill is based on what is predominate in your awareness. Basically, what you focus on the most will expand into your experience of life. So by thinking “I don’t want to be fat” what actually comes to mind? What does this look like to you? What images pop into your mind when you think that thought?
It’s probably a image of you being fat…
This is fail strategy for your mind and by learning that how you focus your mind creates the foundation for you to gain the motivation and energy to make a positive change that will support your goal of slimming is essential.
